NSW Blues
Capture Double Gold
It was the
Blues night in the pool as they captured 2 gold and one silver medal in the
closely fought Under 16 Division at the Panasonic Pan Pacific Youth Festival. For
the first time since the inaugural year in 1990 the NSW Blues captured a gold
medal and not just one but two as they took out the final of both genders at
West Wave last night.
NSW beat
North Harbour girls to take the U16 Girls title from the defending champions
5-3, with Harbour City from Wellington capturing the bronze medal 4-3 over the
NZ Under 15 girls. The whole section was close with Marist Red and NSW CHS
tying for 5th place in behind
NSW
repeated the dose in taking the Under 16 Boys championship from their country
cousins NSW Country who took their first ever medal at a Pan Pacific Championship
in netting the silver and giving the State a quinella. So close was this
section that only one goal separated the winning team from the 7th placed team
in the overall standing. Tauranga captured the bronze medal 9-8 over North
Harbour A with the visiting American side Corona Del Mar celebrating US
Independence Day with a 6-4 win over NZ Under 15 Team for 5th place.
