Panasonic Pan Pacific Tournament Not Just for All Star Teams

Michael Brooks, Waitakere Club Member & Coach
Waitakere Teal U16 Girls' is a Development Team coached by Michael Brooks, who is also a Waitakere club water polo player. Michael currently coaches St Cuthbert’s College, who came 1st  at the School Girls' North Islands Tournament and 3rd at Nationals earlier this year.

The Waitakere Teal team has been training for 10 weeks with 2 trainings per week. They have one player on loan, Waioira Mcleod, who is at boarding school in Palmerston North, who used to play for Mountfort Park. Waitakere Teal is a development team and they have several girls who are only 13 years of age. They were unlucky enough to lose one player this week to pneumonia.

Despite having a few set backs the disposition of the team is a positive one. Michael Brooks comments on their experience throughout the tournament below.
“The team is having a great time while learning heaps. They have come out of most games with bigger smiles than the opposition.”
