Kate is happy to have been reunited
with ex teammates and Waikato club members Kelsi Prendergast and Kristin
Hastings. The three 17-year-old girls played together in the 2011 Hawaii
Invitational Tournament for the NZ U18 Development Team, where they came 2nd
overall.
Kate’s experience at joining a new
team for a tournament: “It is great to have been given the
chance to play for Waikato, I really feel apart of the team.”
Kate has been travelling south to
train with the Waikato team once a week for the past 6 weeks. Kate is known for
her rocket shot and smart play and has been making an impact in the pool with
being one of the key goal scorers for the team.
Doug Campbell, a well-known and
respected coach and referee in New Zealand is the head coach of the Waikato U20’s
team. His son Jamie Campbell is also involved in the tournament as a referee.
Mountfort Park (Kate’s Club) is a
relatively new club in South Auckland and has been building up from the younger
age groups and as a result, do not yet have an U20 Women’s Team. Hopefully next
Pan Pacs we will see Kate making an impact for Mountfort Park in the U20
bracket.
Kate will be representing Mountfort Park
for the U18 bracket, which commences later this week.
